This weekend marks the 72nd year of Anchorage's Fur Rendezvous Festival. Beginning in 1935, "Fur Rondy" was established as a three day festival to coincide with the time that miners and trappers came to town with their winter's yield. Today, Fur Rondy events include the blanket toss, snow and ice sculptures, snowshoe softball, and the ceremonial start of the Iditarod. Today we went downtown to take part in the festivities by eating funnel cake, turkey legs and watching the running of the reindeer down 4th Avenue.

I've never seen a reindeer. too cool! we don't get those much around here. and snow and ice here never looks that white. pretty pretty!

dude...my aunt who lives in two rivers ran with her dogs in that race. my reindeer don't look like that.
