Although we would have preferred to post updates as we made our way to Alaska, finding internet service was a bit more difficult than we had planned. So, here are a few pictures from our drive to the North...enjoy.
We'll miss many things about Plainview, but specifically we'll miss: Bill's chili-chesse tator tots, El Tropico's fruit and granola cup, the snow cone stand, decent breakfast burritos, the sky, the cost of living, Josh York, Java the Hut, the WBU Bookstore, Jacob will miss his barber Warren, and of course our friends and family.
Although not the most luxurious, our first anniversary was unforgettable. We ate the top of our wedding cake while camped outside of Great Falls, MT and it was still as good as we remember!
We spent a day and a half searching for coffee and finally we found a Starbucks...we have never been happier.
During the construction of the Alaska Highway a soldier nailed a sign to an existing road sign with his hometown and road mileage. This trend continued among other soldiers and today Signpost Forest in Watson Lake, YT is a mandatory stop along the Alaska HWY. We, unfortunately, forgot about the tradition and only had a blank CD to post. It reads: "Moving to Alaska...Jacob and Liz Burke, July 26th 2007".
We pulled into Fairbanks at 3:00am on the 27th of July. Total driving distance=3,522 miles. Total driving time=6 days.

Dude! I'm so jealous of the Time Hortons. We had one just a block away in Canada and it was a favorite stopping place.
Hey, that's our backyard! It'still the same backyard now in 2011 as it was back then in 2007. I'm just a little slow at posting to say the least. HAHAHA.
